Dr Luke Eggleston
Specialist Sport and Exercise Physician

Born in Western Australia, Dr Eggleston moved to Queensland in 2007 to study medicine at Griffith University on the Gold Coast and has lived in Queensland ever since. He spent his first two years as a junior doctor at The Townsville Hospital before joining the orthopaedics team at the Gold Coast Hospital in 2013. Dr Eggleston then commenced specialist training in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2014 in Brisbane, completing his training in 2020. Dr Eggleston has now moved back to the Gold Coast full time to open SEQSEM.
Prior to studying to become a doctor, Dr Eggleston worked as a physiotherapist for a number of years, working heavily in sport which included working for English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur and touring the world with the award-winning West End production, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake. This experience greatly assists Dr Eggleston is assessing whether a condition may improve with physiotherapy and exercises, or requires further investigations, interventions or surgery.
Dr Eggleston is the current Chief Medical Officer for the Gold Coast Suns and Doctor for the Australian Dolphins Swim Team when they tour on major international competitions. Through his specialist training in Sport and Exercise Medicine he worked in a wide range of elite sports which are listed below. He is skilled in ultrasound-guided interventions and injections and can perform these in clinic when clinically indicated. In addition to seeing patients for acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, Dr Eggleston is experienced in the management of medical conditions such as asthma, fatigue and nutritional deficiencies that are associated with sport and performance.
